FAQ’s

This is a list of FAQ’s that I thought to collate and post up here.  You might find the answer to your question below!

If not, contact SLink CS by sending a notecard detailing your question and including transaction information if needed to Siddean Munro

Please don’t post support questions here, I don’t check here often and your post may be missed.

Q – I hear you are doing updates!  When is the update to [insert style here] going to happen?

A – updates are sent as they are completed.  I have a database of all transactions through Xstreet SL and through SL vendors and will be sending the updated shoes/feet to the people on those lists automatically.  The process of  updating and sending to mailing lists is time consuming, and I also have a business and household to run, so they will happen when they happen.  If you purchased a product with a gift card, please let me know and I will add you to the appropriate mailbox to receive the item when the update is complete.

Q – Can I remove the scripts from my SLink shoes?  I’m worried about the upcoming script limitations/I think they are causing me lag

A – no, the scripts can’t be removed from the SLink shoes.  I am updating all of my shoe styles to include a new, very low lag, fast single script system, so once those updates are complete, SLink feet/shoes will not cause you undue amounts of lag and will not pose a problem to avatar script limitations.   The barefeet have already been updated as at 12-June-10

Q – The texture on my beebee boots [insert other sculpty product here] seems to be broken

A – Increase your LOD to see the sculpts properly – read here for instructions

Q – the new feet I bought seem to have claws!  I didn’t want feet with claws!  I’m not an animal….

A – you bought the feet for furries instead of the feet for humans.  Please send a notecard with your name and your transaction details to Siddean Munro to resolve the issue

Q – One of my toes/shoe straps is a different colour/shape to the rest of them!

A – your textures are cached locally and this is often the result of a corrupted cache.  The best way to fix this is to clear your cache (Edit, Preferences, Network, ClearCache) and then log out and into SL.  To speed up your inventory fetch, type ‘e’ into the inventory search field.  Your textures should now rez properly.

Q – I can’t seem to match my feet properly to my skintone!

A – there are a number of fixes for this.  The first is not to immediately ask for a refund.  The SLink HUD system is very easy to use, and there is a Guest HUD available that makes tinting very simple.

  • There is a set of instructions here on how to get great looking feet.  Follow these, and if you still can’t get a match, please let me know.
  • I have provided a guest HUD that you can put on the floor and stand on so that someone else can tint your feet, (I am happy to do this for you if you need it)

Q – can I buy a modifiable version of the feet (or any no-mod product) so I can change it/add my own textures/set it to fullbright?

A – No

Q – Can I use your feet in other people’s shoes?

A – No.  Creating one set of feet to fit into the designs of anyone else would be a physically impossible task as everyone designs shoes with different height, shape and aesthetic.  My barefeet are designed to be worn as barefeet.  SLink carries an expanding range of shoes with feet already part of the design.

Q – Can I buy a set of your feet fullperm so I can add them to my own shoe creations?

A – No.  There are sets of sculpty feet available on Xstreet SL for shoemakers to use in their own creations.

Q – Can I have your HUD scripts, or can you tell me where you got your scripts so that I can use them in my own shoe/feet creations?

A – My HUD scripts were custom made especially for my products by my own scripter.  We spent the better part of 11 months developing the HUD to the stage it is at now and it is still undergoing changes.  The SLink HUD is not available for sale.

Q – I have bought your hair and the instructions say to drop the style.  But when I bring up the pie menu, there is no “drop” option.

A – you are in a no build area, or you are experiencing an SL glitch that may be related to lag.  Move to another sim (you are welcome to drop your hairstyle at the SLink Mainstore) and try again

Q – Can I unlock the animations on the Jolie Pied feet so that the ankle pivots?

A – No, the feet were designed to have a seamless transition between foot and leg and as such, the top of the prim foot is not shaped to pivot with the foot, and turning off the animation will produce very undesirable results.  If you want pivoting feet, I have created a set that is designed to move and added them to the Jolie Pied range.

Q – I bought a pair of shoes and have somehow lost my invisiprims!!  Can you help?

A – If you dropped the invisiprims in my store, I will return them to you either through autoreturn, or manually.  If you dropped them somewhere else, you can cam above the area you dropped them, and try to select them with the build tool, they won’t be far from where you were when you dropped them.

  1. Hi!

I absolutely love all my SLink shoes. Your prim toes are my very favorite purchase in over 3 years in SL!

I do have one question. Will you offer the alpha layer for your shoes/boots/prim toes? It would be so wonderful if I could pick up a box the alpha layers to use for your shoes/boots/feet instead of the invisi-prims.

Thanks so much for your great artistry!

    • Hi, unfortunately it’s not as simple as just giving a box of alpha layers, if that’s all it was, people could make their own. I need to update the styles to include the scripted invisiprim toggles and new single script system. I’m doing them as I have time, but time is not readily available at the moment. I will announce each update here as I do them so please check back often :)

  2. I just bought the SLink Lulu Stilettos in black, and adore them. However, the alpha layer seems to run too high up the leg, and shows an invisible area between the shoe/foot and leg. If I edit and raise the shoe, it shorten my leg… is there a way to alter the alpha so it’s not so high on the leg?

    Thanks for a great product!
    Annie

    • Hi Annie, raising the shoe to meet the alpha layer shouldn’t shorten your leg beyond what would be acceptable for that style. I tried to contact you in world, but you haven’t posted here under your SL name so no results came up. Can you please contact me (Siddean Munro) inworld to chat about this problem? Thanks.

  3. My feet are showing through the shoes, like I don’t have invisiprims (they are not listed in the items in the folder). I can’t adjust the shoes to fit my feet to cover them and my feet are set at 0. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

    • Hi Tashi, the latest Slink feet (Lulu, Shaz, Sheila) do not have invisiprims, as there is only one legacy viewer remaining that doesn’t support the use of Alpha Layers (SL 1.x). I will send you an optional set of invisiprims that you can wear on your legs, and I recommend that you look into switching to a viewer that at least supports alpha and tattoo layers like the Phoenix viewer.

  4. I purchased a pair of Shaz Platform and I really love them… I am having one issue though, the nail polish colors are off. When I click on white, I get green… seems green is like a base color and all the other colors are off…. I will try and contact you in world for help… thanks…

  5. Hello ! I bought the new meshed barefeet, but I can´t find a way to hide the original avatar feet, In this case I can see 4 feet. I´m using viewer 2. Thank you !

    • There is an alpha layer included in the box with the feet. Invisiprims are no longer used in my products :) If you don’t have an alpha layer, you can contact me for one, or pick one up in the demo

  6. If I wear the alpha for the hands, the alpha for the feet disappears. It appears that i can only wear one alpha at a time. What do I do if I want to wear hands and feet?

    • Certain older viewers only allow one layer to be worn instead of the multiples we enjoy in newer viewers. If you would contact me inworld, I can arrange to send you an alpha texture to add to your foot alpha for the hands.

  7. Regarding the “Can I use your feet in other people’s shoes?” Q and the negative A, I have to say that I wear my Slink feet with non-Slink shoes quite often (I’m male, by and by) and have no problems. It just takes a few adjustments and modifications to the shoes (IF they are modifiable) and a little patience :) Buy a cheap pair or a freebie and experiment.

    • Thanks for the feedback! :) I’m glad that you’re able to wear your Slink feet in other shoes, it certainly makes them more wearable! My FAQ is only negative because I can’t make any guarantees that the feet will fit. The best idea is to do as you have done and experiment!

  8. Hello, I recently bought Slink Destiny Heels Black and I’m having a issue with the shoe sharper attachment. I can see little loose feet sculpture going through the back of the heel stem. I adjusted the shoe size to fit on leg, my feet set to 0 and, graphics set to high. Can I please receive assistance in-world ?

    Thank you!

    • Hi Koquise, I am sorry I didn’t see this comment earlier, comments in my blog tend not to be the best place to reach me for product assistance, I prefer direct contact in world by IM or notecard :) I will contact you asap and sort this out.
